Plastic surgery prices will always be different depending on where you live, the doctor you choose, and the severity of the operation that you are having. For example, a surgery in Los Angeles, home of the stars, will probably cost much more than an equivalent surgery in Atlanta, Georgia. Plastic surgery prices for a well renown surgeon with a waiting list of clients will cost you more than an equivalent surgeon who is as yet unknown.

And, finally, plastic surgery prices for major surgery such as a  "major" face lift will be more than those for a "minor" face-lift. The bottom line is that there are too many variables for anyone to tell you exactly what you will pay for your specific plastic surgery. The best that one can do beforehand is to get a ball park estimate.

Even though plastic surgery prices vary across the country, they can usually be broken down into four primary cost components - the cost of the operating room, cost of the surgeon's fee,  cost of the anesthesiologist, and cost of the device - such as the implant material, botox, etc.

Plastic surgery prices are a concern for many because, for the most part, insurance companies consider them as elective surgery unless it's done for health reasons. In fact, for this very reason, many plastic surgeons have no participation or arrangement with any insurance plans. It's also another reason why prices for plastic surgery vary so greatly among physician.

Plastic Surgery Prices For Breast Augmentation

Between two and three million people in the U.S. have had breast augmentation surgery. There are many reasons a woman might choose to have a breast reduction. But one of the top ones is the desire to be able to fit into normal, fashionable clothes and not be stared at. Others are bothered by sagging breasts and want to reduce them to a size more manageable by their body. And others still, just don't want the attention that huge breasts invariably bring.

Estimated cost: $5,000 to $8,000.

Plastic Surgery Prices For Breast Lifts

A breast surgery lift (mastopexy) is not the same as breast enlargement. Lifts are used for droopy breasts while breast enlargements are undertaken if you feel your breasts are simply too small. It removes excess skins and tightens the surrounding area. Its price will vary depending on whether it is performed with or without implants.

Estimated cost: $4,700 to $7,500.

Breast Reduction for Women

Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) is one of those few plastic surgery operations that your insurance company will pay for. This is because they've concluded that abnormally large breast can possibly cause physical problems for a woman - specifically spinal difficulties.

Estimated cost: $2,500 to $9,000.

Breast Reduction for Men

Man boob reduction (gynecomastia reduction). Man boobs are not a danger to men. However, for men that have them, they are one of the more embarrassing body imperfections for them to live with. Unfortunately, insurance companies will usually NOT cover this procedure.

Estimated cost: $5,000 to $8,000.

Nose Plastic Surgery and Prices

Nose surgery or rhinoplasty is one of the most requested types of plastic surgeon. Reasons vary from reducing its size to simply changing the angle. Some will actually want the surgeon to give them the identical nose of their favorite actress or singer. If there is a medical reason for the operation (such as a deviated septum), your insurance company may pay for it - otherwise you're on your own.

Estimated cost: $3,800 to $6,800.

Plastic Surgery Prices For Liposuction

Liposuction also known as "surgical body sculpting", "fat modeling", "tummy tucking", and lipoplasty is the removal of fat from a patient's body through surgical means. There are basically two types of liposuction with various costs attached to them. There's what is called tumescent liposuction - also known as fluid injection). This is the most popular form of liposuction. It's more expensive because it requires a general operating room, anesthesia, and so on. It's also the most effective in removing fat from the body.

The less popular type - although more expensive - is the ultrasound-assisted liposuction or UAL. This is a relatively newer type of liposuction which uses ultrasonic vibrations to liquefy fat cells. It's less intrusive and less dangerous, but also doesn't remove as much fat as tumescent liposuction. This is also one of the types where the plastic surgery price for men is higher than for women due to the fact that the fat in men tends to be more fibrous and thus more difficult to work with. Many people think that liposuction can only remove fat from the belly, but it can also remove fat from many other areas of the body such as arms, breasts, buttocks, thighs, etc.

More price variations exist for this type of cosmetic surgery than perhaps any other.

Estimated cost: $2,400 to $9,000.

Plastic Surgery Prices for Face Lifts

Everyone's skin loses elasticity as they age. The skin becomes slack in certain places and doesn't snap back like it used to. This partly accounts for the double chin effect of adults as they age. The face lift is meant to tighten these areas of the skin that have become slack. The face lift has the most effect on the cheek, lower jaw, and neck area.

Normally, the mouth is not changed by a face lift. If it is, as you've seen in some celebrities, it's a sign that the surgery was probably not done right.

Estimated cost: $4,600 to $10,000.
